Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
In short: PlainCapture does not collect, upload or sell your data. Your screenshots and recordings stay on your computer. The only time the extension contacts a server is when you activate or refresh a Pro license, and then it sends only your license key.
Who we are
PlainCapture is a Chrome extension operated by Guigang Gangbei Mark E-commerce Studio (贵港市港北区马克电子商务工作室), a sole proprietorship registered in China, Gangbei District, Guigang City, Guangxi, China ("we"). Contact: support@plaincapture.com.
What the extension processes – on your device only
- Screenshots and recordings you take. They are kept in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) until you save them as files or delete them. They are never sent to us or anyone else.
- Your settings (for example file name templates and recording quality) and, if you have Pro, your license status. These are stored with
chrome.storage.sync, so if you use Chrome sync, Google stores them with your Chrome profile to sync them between your computers. We never receive them. - Microphone and camera, only while you record with them turned on, after you allow access in Chrome. Audio and video go straight into your local recording.
- Page content of the tab you capture, only at the moment you start a capture, to produce the image or video on your device. The extension has no access to websites you don't capture.
What leaves your device
Nothing, with one exception: when you click Activate, Refresh license or Remove from this browser in the settings, the extension sends your license key (and an activation id) to our license service at api.plaincapture.com, which forwards it to our payment provider, Creem, to check it. Our license service does not store or log the key. No other data is included, and the extension makes no other network requests – its pages are technically blocked from contacting any other server.
Purchases
Pro is sold through Creem, which acts as the merchant of record and processes your payment, taxes and invoices. When you buy, Creem collects the information needed for the purchase (such as your name, email address, country and payment details) under its own privacy policy. We receive order details from Creem (such as your email address, the plan you bought and the order status) to deliver your license, provide support and meet legal and tax obligations. We do not receive your full card details.
This website
plaincapture.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Our hosting and network provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it against abuse.
If you email us, we use your message and email address only to answer you and keep the conversation as long as needed for support. Diagnostics you choose to include contain the extension version, browser version, your settings and recent error types – never web addresses or page content.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties except the service providers named above, as required to provide the service, or where required by law.
Children
PlainCapture is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you – in practice, purchase and support records. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. Data stored by the extension on your device can be deleted at any time in PlainCapture's settings or by removing the extension.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Material changes will be announced in the extension's release notes.
